WEF (World Entertainment Friday), Week 25
Weekly selection of somewhat unusual music from around the world
From the darkest corners of YouTube, here are some songs that you’re unlikely to ever hear on FM radio.
If you know something that would fit in, let me know in the comments.
Artist: Fikret Kızılok
Title: Ay Osman
Country: Turkey
Year: 1967
Fikret Kızılok (1946-2001) was one of the pioneers of Turkish rock or, as some call it, «Anatolian rock». Although one can definitely hear influences from The Beatles in this song, somehow it seems that in 60ies there was less direct imitation and more creative adaptation.
Artist: Dzivia
Title: Дзікае паляванне (Wild Hunt)
Country: Belarus
Year: 2019
This guy, Artur Matveenko, calls himself «Belarusian Pagan Orchestra». I was able to find just one photo of the «orchestra» containing seven people, so it seems to be pretty small, or mostly virtual.

.Artist: Fogo Fogo
Title: Nha Rikeza (My Wealth/Treasure)
Country: Portugal / Cape Verde
Year: 2024
Technically these guys are from Lisbon but they’re playing mostly Caboverdian music.
Very cool
