Incomprehensible laws: I was on the planning commission of my tiny town in Utah; we were responsible for writing local zoning regulations. Utah state law demands that laws and regulations be written in understandable English.

The most egregious violator of this law: the Utah state legislature.

I would also disagree with MIT's conclusion. I think laws are intentionally opaque so that nobody understands them well enough to object to them before passage.

At this point, memeculture is quite primitive yet, like neolithic agriculture – it mostly consists of throwing fertilizer around and seeing what would grow.

But we’re improving by the day!
