Recent events in my province align neatly with the government folly memes. The liberals had a leadership choice between an uncharismatic guy who has paid his dues and is realistic about our most pressing issues, and a guy who is a wretched, compromised hack who couldn't effect any reforms even if he knew they were needed. The realist was crushed in the election. I couldn't believe how lopsided it was. I suppose I could have anticipated. Negative selection, as you've pointed out, is quite real. Still, that lopsided?!

Late to your party...

My Dad was an editor at Time magazine in the late sixties. One night, he came home from NYC, poured a drink (not a usual cocktailer before dinner guy) and told my mom, "It's done! They've decided the People section is becoming a separate Rag."

That helicopter in front of the Jesus statue reminded me of a recording on the tube by Eduardo Antonello (I think it is Pachelbel's Canon) where he and a friend are playing and a helicopter flies right by! Hilarious, you got to see it to believe.
