WEF (World Entertainment Friday), Week 29
Weekly selection of somewhat unusual music from around the world
From the darkest corners of YouTube, here are some songs that you’re unlikely to ever hear on FM radio.
If you know something that would fit in, let me know in the comments.
Artist: Tarwa N-Tiniri
Title: Taryet (Unify (?))
Country: Morocco
Year: 2017
I have mixed feelings about this whole «desert blues» genre rising in recent years (because of foreign financial involvement in it), but sometimes it produces rather interesting music.
Artist: Nati Tedeyeva
Title: Wadyndz (~Flute)
Country: Russia (North Ossetia)
Year: 2022
Supposedly an Ossetin folk song. Not sure how well it performs in its stated quality of a «lullaby» though. YMMV.
Artist: Camuendo Marka
Title: Deseos (Desires)
Country: Ecuador
Year: 2022 (?)
This Ecuadorean collective is known for traveling the world and giving picturesque street performances. If you’re willing to sacrifice some sound quality for colorful costumes, search is your friend.
I loved all three this week! The last one’s intro sounds like an intro to Photogragh and Memories by Jim Croce.
