WEF (World Entertainment Friday), Week 36
Weekly selection of somewhat unusual music from around the world
From the darkest corners of YouTube, here are some songs that you’re unlikely to ever hear on FM radio.
If you know something that would fit in, let me know in the comments.
Artist: Guahaihoque
Title: Elder Evocations
Country: Colombia
Year: 2007
According to pedowikia:
Guahaioque was a minor deity in the religion of the Muisca. It was the god of evil, stealing, lies and death.
Artist: Kahaberi & Khanums
Title: თხა და ვენახი (tkha da venakhi, Goat and Wineyard)
Country: Sakartvelo («Georgia the country»)
Year: 2014
They call it «electrofolk». This is just a kids’ counting rhyme, not supposed to make much sense.
Artist: Õtekse
Title: Unt Aja Taga
Country: Estonia
Year: 2024
My knowledge of Estonian is too limited to figure out this title. Unt might be a dialectal form of hunt ‘wolf’, so it might be about chasing wolves back into forest… or not.
